Common Target Areas
Bio-Remodelling with Profhilo® in London
Profhilo London at PRP London Clinic is a doctor-administered injectable treatment that uses one of the highest concentrations of stabilised hyaluronic acid (HA) available to remodel the skin from within. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, Profhilo® is not designed to add volume or change facial contours. Instead it acts as a bio-remodelling agent: once injected it spreads beneath the skin's surface and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for firmness, elasticity and suppleness.
The result is an improvement in overall skin tone, texture, hydration and elasticity for a more refreshed, naturally youthful appearance. Profhilo® is often described as an 'injectable moisturiser' because of its profound hydrating effect, but its stabilised hybrid-complex formulation also drives longer-term structural change in the skin.
Doctor-Led Profhilo® Treatment in London
Every Profhilo® injection at PRP London Clinic is performed by a GMC-registered doctor, never by a nurse, technician or non-medical practitioner. Dr Mohamed Nafei (GMC: 7520509), Dr Reem Nouri (GMC: 6149512) and Dr Bruno Amendola (GMC: 4346629) each deliver Profhilo® using shared clinical workflows and standardised Bio Aesthetic Point (BAP) injection mapping, so whichever clinician treats you the technique and aftercare guidance are clinically aligned.
How Profhilo® Works on the Skin
Profhilo® works on several levels at once:
- Deep hydration: its high concentration of hyaluronic acid draws and holds moisture within the skin for intense, lasting hydration.
- Collagen and elastin stimulation: Profhilo® stimulates the skin's fibroblasts, increasing production of the proteins that support firmness, elasticity and structure.
- Improved tone and texture: the combination of hydration and new collagen and elastin leads to smoother texture and a more even, radiant tone.
- Bio-remodelling of lax tissue: it helps remodel ageing and sagging tissue, contributing to a subtle lifting and tightening effect.
Profhilo® is made from ultrapure hyaluronic acid stabilised through a thermal process rather than chemical cross-linking agents such as BDDE, which supports its high biocompatibility and even spread beneath the skin.
Profhilo vs Fillers, Polynucleotides & Sunekos
Profhilo vs dermal fillers is the most common question we hear. Both contain hyaluronic acid, but they do different jobs. Dermal fillers are viscous and stay where they are injected to restore volume and sculpt contours. Profhilo® flows and spreads to improve overall skin quality, it is a bio-remodeller, not a volumiser.
| Factor | Profhilo® | Polynucleotides | Sunekos® |
|---|---|---|---|
| Active ingredient | Stabilised hyaluronic acid (hybrid complexes) | Purified DNA fragments (salmon/trout) | Non-crosslinked HA + amino acid cluster |
| Primary action | Hydration + bio-remodelling of laxity | Proposed fibroblast support & skin quality | ECM regeneration & skin quality |
| Best for | Skin laxity, hydration, firmness | Skin quality, fine lines, under-eye | Skin quality, under-eye (Performa) |
| Typical course | 2 sessions around 4 weeks apart | 2 to 4 sessions | 3 sessions 4 to 6 weeks apart |
These treatments are complementary and can be combined. During your consultation your doctor will confirm whether Profhilo®, polynucleotides, Sunekos® or a combination best suits your skin. For general skin-booster options, see our skin boosters page.
What to Expect During a Profhilo® Session
A Profhilo® session is quick and straightforward. After a clinical assessment, Profhilo® is typically injected into strategic Bio Aesthetic Points (commonly five points on each side of the face) chosen to maximise the even spread of the product. The same approach can be applied to the neck, décolletage or hands. A full facial treatment usually takes around 15 to 30 minutes, and a topical anaesthetic can be applied for comfort. Small bumps at the injection points are normal immediately afterwards and usually disperse within a few hours to a day.
Step-by-Step: Your Profhilo® Treatment Journey
Your Profhilo® treatment at PRP London Clinic follows a structured, doctor-led pathway.
Clinical Assessment & Consultation
Your GMC-registered doctor reviews your medical history, examines the treatment area and confirms whether Profhilo is the appropriate option, or whether polynucleotides, Sunekos or HA filler would suit your concern better.
Injection-Point Mapping
The doctor maps the Bio Aesthetic Points across the planned area (face, neck, décolletage or hands) to ensure even, safe distribution of the product.
Treatment
Profhilo is injected at each mapped point. A topical anaesthetic can be applied first for comfort. A full facial treatment usually takes 15 to 30 minutes.
Aftercare & Review
You receive aftercare guidance and a second session is scheduled approximately four weeks later to complete the initial course, with maintenance typically every six months.
Profhilo Cost London
Profhilo cost in London at PRP London Clinic starts from £380 per session for the face, with a face & neck option also available. An initial course of two sessions approximately four weeks apart is usually recommended for the best results, with maintenance treatments generally every six months. See our full price list for current Profhilo® face and face & neck pricing, or ask your doctor about combining Profhilo® with other skin-quality treatments.
Profhilo® Side Effects & Safety
Profhilo® is generally considered a very safe treatment with a low risk of adverse reactions, particularly when administered by an experienced GMC-registered doctor. Because it is made from ultrapure, highly biocompatible hyaluronic acid, the risk of allergic reaction is low. As with any injectable, temporary side effects can occur, most commonly mild bruising, swelling, redness or tenderness at the injection sites, along with small bumps that settle as the product disperses. These effects are usually mild and resolve within a few days.
Profhilo® Aftercare
- Avoid touching or rubbing the treated areas for a few hours.
- Avoid make-up for at least 12 to 24 hours where possible.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms and extreme temperatures for 24 to 48 hours.
- Avoid alcohol and excessive sun exposure for a day or two.
- Sleep on your back for the first night if possible to avoid pressure on the treated areas.
Any small bumps at the injection points usually disappear within 24 hours, and bruising, if it occurs, typically resolves within a few days. Your doctor will provide personalised aftercare instructions.
Is Profhilo® Right for You?
Profhilo® is suitable for a wide range of people, typically aged 30 and above, who want to address early signs of skin ageing and improve overall skin quality rather than add volume. It is well suited to those noticing skin laxity or mild sagging, dull or dehydrated skin, loss of firmness and elasticity, or fine lines related to skin quality. It can be used on the face, neck, décolletage, hands and other areas. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or where there is active skin infection or a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid, your doctor will confirm suitability at consultation.

Myths vs Facts
Profhilo is a dermal filler.
No. Profhilo contains hyaluronic acid but is a bio-remodelling treatment. It hydrates the skin and stimulates collagen and elastin to improve skin quality, rather than adding volume or sculpting contours like a filler.
Profhilo works the same as polynucleotides.
They are different. Profhilo is stabilised hyaluronic acid that hydrates and bio-remodels laxity; polynucleotides are DNA fragments proposed to support skin quality. They can be combined, and your doctor will advise which suits your skin.
You see the full result immediately.
Some hydration is visible within days, but the main bio-remodelling benefits appear around four to six weeks after the second session as new collagen and elastin form.
One session is enough.
An initial course of two sessions about four weeks apart is usually recommended, with maintenance treatments typically every six months.
