Stojanovič & Majdič (2019): Effectiveness and Safety of Hyaluronic Acid Fillers Used to Enhance Overall Lip Fullness – A Systematic Review
L. Stojanovič, N. Majdič · Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2019PMID: 30636365
Supports: PRISMA systematic review of 22 studies (3,965 subjects total; 9 RCTs with LOE 1b). HA fillers confirmed effective and safe for lip augmentation with response rates between 71% and 93.2% across different lip fullness scales. Majority of subjects satisfied with results. Most common adverse events were local injection-site reactions (swelling, contusion, bruising, pain, redness, itching).
Limitations: Assessment methods for efficacy varied greatly between studies. Mixed levels of evidence (9 RCTs, 1 cohort, 12 case series). Qualitative synthesis only; no meta-analysis performed.

Confirms serious adverse events are rare; most reactions are mild and transient. Covers vascular infarction protocols, inflammatory reactions, nodules, granulomas, and skin discoloration management.
Limitations: Consensus-based (evidence + opinion), not a clinical trial. Focused on Hylacross and Vycross HA products specifically.
