Device Selection Based on Your Concern
During your consultation, your doctor assesses your skin, medical history, and treatment goals to determine which device — Sylfirm X or Morpheus8 — is the optimal choice. In general:
- Sylfirm X is preferred for pigmentation, melasma, rosacea, fine lines, and general skin rejuvenation where dual-wave RF offers a distinct clinical advantage.
- Morpheus8 is preferred for deeper skin tightening, jowl reduction, acne scarring, body contouring, and concerns requiring subdermal fat remodelling at depths beyond standard devices.
Some patients benefit from a combination protocol using both devices across separate sessions, targeting different tissue layers and mechanisms for comprehensive results.
Anaesthesia and Comfort
A potent topical anaesthetic cream (typically lidocaine-based) is applied 30–45 minutes before treatment to ensure comfort throughout the procedure. The treatment itself involves a sensation of warmth and mild pressure as the RF energy is delivered through the microneedles.
Treatment Delivery
Your doctor selects the appropriate needle depth, energy level, and pass pattern for each treatment zone. The face is typically treated in multiple overlapping passes to ensure even coverage, with energy parameters adjusted for different facial areas — lower energy near the periorbital zone, higher energy on the cheeks and jawline. A full facial treatment typically takes 30–60 minutes depending on the device, areas treated, and the number of passes required.
Post-Treatment
Immediately after treatment, the skin appears erythematous (red) with mild swelling and possible pinpoint bleeding at the needle entry sites. A soothing post-procedure serum and SPF are applied. Patients can return to most daily activities within 24–48 hours, with full resolution of redness typically within 72 hours.
